Panaji (Goa) : In order to let the people enjoy the festival of Diwali celebrations as per Scriptures, the Government should stop the irregularities taking place on the occasion the traditional burning of Narkasur effigies, demanded Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) by submitting a memorandum today on Monday to the Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar. HJS delegation meet today on Monday District Collector (NG) Mr. Mihir Vardhan and demanded to stop the production and sale of crackers denigrating Hindu deities and National heroes through a memorandum. Mr. Mihir Vardhan assured the HJS’s delegation that an order will be issued not to sale crackers denigrating Hindu Deities and also District administration will create awareness on this issue through media. The HJS delegation comprised of Mr. Sushant Dalvi, Mr. Promod Nanoskar, Mr. Manohar Naik and  Mr. Raj Borkar.

The memorandum given to the Chief Minister, Mr. Parrikar stated that the traditional burning of Narkasur effigies in Goa is a symbol representing  Shrikrushna slaying Narkasur; but doing so Narkasur is given more importance instead of Shrikrushna. There are irregularities like carrying huge tall effigies of Narkasur on the road which is accident prone due to effigies touching the electric wires, noise pollution, forcing passers-bye and car-drivers to give donations, the Narkasur effigies are burnt on the roads etc. HJS demanded to stop all the above mentioned irregularities. The memorandum handed over to the District Collector contains the information about the physical, mental, religious and spiritual harm, pollution and ill-effects caused by the crackers to the society. HJS also had demanded an immediate action to stop the import and sale of crackers made in China which contain the mixture of chemicals like potassium chloride and potassium per-chloride which are banned in India (Bharat).
