Mumbai : All Hindus celebrate Diwali mainly from the viewpoint of enjoyment and they do not try to take spiritual benefits out of this festival. Crackers with pictures of Hindu Deities, our great national leaders etc. are burst when their pictures get shredded to pieces and trampled leading to their desecration. The firework also causes air and noise pollution; therefore, such crackers should be banned and Hindus should celebrate Diwali from spiritual perspective, was the appeal made by Mr. Prasad Vadake of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) in a press conference held at Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh. Mrs. Manali Naik of Sanatan Sanstha explained the spiritual significance of all days of Diwali festival like ‘Dhanatrayodashi’, ‘Yama Deep daan’, ‘Narak Chaturdashi’, ‘Lakshmi-pujan’, ‘Bali Pratipada and ‘Bhau-beej’. She as well informed about small booklet published by Sanatan on ‘Sattvik Rangolis’ to be drawn on the occasion of Diwali. Mrs. Kamal Giramkar of Sanatan Sanstha was also present on the occasion.
