Pune (Maharashtra) : Incidents from Ramayana have been taken and made mockery of in a dance-drama named ‘Janakiyan’. The organizer and dancer, Miss Kohinoor Darda and Mrs. Sudha Darda were explained the subject by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) about desecration of Deities after which they agreed to remove objectionable part from this drama. They have also given a letter to HJS rendering apology.
In the dance-drama named ‘Janakiyan’, Ramayan is presented from the viewpoint of Sitamata and its show will be staged in Kalamadi High School Hall in Erandavane area. News about the show was published in a newspaper when HJS activists learnt about denigration of Shriam and glorification of Ravana occurring through the said dance-drama. The activists contacted management of the school who called the organsiers and arranged discussions between them and the activists. Mr. Sharma of ‘Patit Pavan Sanghatana’, Mr. Dayawan of ‘Yuva Seva Sangh’ of Sant Shri Asarambapu Sect, Mr. Sunil Ghanavat, Mr. Mahendra Ahire, Mrs. Vrunda Satanekar and Smt. Usha Moghe of HJS were present on the occasion.
The incidents taken in this program are against Hindu culture and Dharma and are objectionable which will destroy faith and veneration which people have towards Prabhu Shriram and Sitamata. It has also hurt religious sentiments of people. The program should, therefore, be cancelled, demanded HJS activists with the organizers. They told the management of the school that such anti-culture and anti-Dharma programs should not be held in the school. The organizers then assured the activists in writing that the part brought out to their notice as objectionable, would be removed. They also invited HJS activists for the program and told them to point out objectionable incident if any, felt by them during the program.
Some desecrating sentences in ‘Janakiyan’ :
1. Shriram made Sita go through ‘Agni-pariksha’ to maintain his social status.
2. At the time when Sita got married, she did not understand the subject.
3. Sita was sent to exile out of fear of how people would react.
4. Ravana was not a bad man., he was learned and refined.
