Memorial of Shiv Sena Chief should be built on ‘Shivateertha’ : Shiv Sena

Mumbai : The mortal remains of Balasaheb Thackeray were cremated on Sunday at ‘Shivateertha’. A memorial of Balasaheb should be constructed at the place where his political career took shape, was the demand made by Shiv Sena leader, Mr.  Manohar Joshi on Monday and he said that the matter would be discussed with the Government. Mr. Bhaskar Jadhav, the Urban Development Minister (State) informed that the demand has reached the Government and the Government was favourable towards the same.

Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the State Government had granted special permission to perform last rites on the mortal remains of Balasaheb at ‘Shivateertha’. Now, Shiv Sainiks feel that at the same place, his memorial should be erected. There is a statue of late Mrs. Meenatai Thackeray at the entrance of ‘Shivateertha’. Balasaheb’s first public meeting was held at ‘Shivateertha’ in the year 1966.

‘Kalash’ with the ashes of Shiv Sena Chief at ‘Matoshree’

Mumbai : Last rites were performed on the mortal remains of Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray at ‘Shivateertha’ on Sunday in the presence of millions of Shiv Sainiks. Later, on Monday morning, Shiv Sena’s Chief Executive Mr. Uddhav Thackeray went to ‘Shiva teertha’ and collected ashes when he was quite overwhelmed with emotions. Shiv Sena leaders Manohar Joshi, its MPs, Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai and MNS leader, Shishir Shinde accompanied Mr. Uddhav Thackeray for collecting ashes. Mr. Uddhav could not control his tears and he was seen wiping his tears number of times on the occasion. After the rites, he carried the ‘kalash’ of ashes to his residence at ‘Matoshree’.
