Mangalore (Karnataka) : The six associates of Chota Shakeel who were arrested by DCIB and CCB police on Wednesday December 12 have revealed that they had targeted Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Mutalik.

They made the revelation during interrogation. After quizzing them, the DCIB and CCB police handed them over to Barke police.

Bombay Ravi (23) hailing from Bangalore, Suhail Ismail Sheik (23) from Moodbidri, Rama (33) from Bangalore, Purushottam (21), Devraj (25) and Vinod (23) from Mysore were arrested on Wednesday December 12.

The above accused reportedly arrived in Mangalore and even met murder accused Rashid Malbari, who is an undertrial at the district sub jail, through his brother’s son Suhail Ismail.

Police learned that with the guidance of Rashid Malbari, Bombay Ravi and other associates had planned to kill a prominent person in the city, waited for them near Besant College.

The 6 arrived in a Maruthi Zen car and parked it near a saloon. One of them proceeded towards the nearby district sub-jail and met Suhail, while two others communicated with Rashid Malbari. They came back to the car at around 11.10 pm. All six stood near the car and were deep discussion, when the police surrounded them and took them into custody.

On interrogation, they revealed that they had planned to kill Mutalik.

The police also seized the Zen car, 5 swords, 200 gms chilly powder, 3 monkey caps, 9 mobile phones, 8 SIM cards of different network providers, 3 ATM cards, Rs 760 in cash, Aadhar card and other documents from the accused.

They were produced before court on Thursday and remanded in judicial custody till December 26.
