Matter of illegal construction around the Afzal Khan tomb : Police suppressed agitation by Hindus

Margashirsha Shuklapaksha 6, Kaliyug Varsha 5114

Kolhapur (Maharashtra) :
An agitation, demanding the demolition of illegal construction around the tomb of Afzalkhan, to close the Pune-Bangalore highway was organised on 17th December by the office bearers and activists of devout Hindu organisations; they had assembled for this purpose at 12 noon on 17th December. However, the police prevented the agitation, though prior permission was granted by the police themselves for the same. The agitation was suppressed under the pretext of promulgation of the ban on assembly (Jamav-bandi), and 45 devout Hindus along with their leaders were arrested.

The devout Hindus have strongly protested against such high-handedness by police. The police who initially permitted Hindus to hold demonstrations have deceived the devout Hindus and will have to bear serious consequences of their actions. This warning has been issued by the devout Hindus to police.

1. This agitation was planned for 19th December on the occasion of ‘Shiv Pratap Day’

2. At 12 noon on Monday, devout Hindus started gathering on the bridge on Panchganga river in order to carry out the agitation of closure of Pune-Bangaluru highway. At that time, a police personnel working with secret branch of the department Mr. Raju Patil called devout Hindus near Tavade restaurant.

3. He told that ’the collector has promulgated prohibitory orders against assembly, and hence devout Hindus will not be able to perform agitation.’ Devout Hindus opposed this.

4. Thereafter, police surrounded all the agitators and parked 3 vans nearby. They arrested 45 agitators and registered crimes against them.

5. On this occasion, the devout Hindus shouted slogans loudly, ‘Give one push and demolish the encroachment of Afzal’, ‘Erase the blot on fort Pratapgad’ and thus the entire surrounding area was filled with loud noise.

6. While accommodating all the devout Hindus in police vans, one of the policemen trampled on saffron flag, which dropped from the hand of one of the agitators.

7. Strict security arrangements were made by police at the venue of the agitation.

8. All devout Hindus were shifted to ‘Alankar meeting hall’ at Police Headquarters and were made to sit there for the whole day without the police making any arrangements for their meals. Police issued notices to shop keepers not to prepare banners displaying scenes of ‘Assassination of Afzalkhan’ !

Police have issued notices to the shop owners who prepare digital banners to the effect that ‘Do not prepare banners displaying scenes of ‘Assassination of Afzalkhan’, otherwise action will be taken against you’. Mr. Sambhaji Salunkhe protested against this action also.

Criminal cases registered against 45 individuals including devout Hindu leaders and HJS activists

The police have arrested 45 individuals including Mr. Sambhaji Salunkhe, District President of Bajrang Dal, Mr. Mahesh Ursal, City Chief, Mr. Prashant Kagale, r. Shivanand Swami and Mr. Sudhakar Sutar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. Mr. Raju Yadav, Karavir Taluka Pramkh of Karvir Taluka, Mr. Bipin Khedkar of Shri Shiv Pratishthan, Mr. Indrajit Bhosale and registered crime against them under Indian Penal Code 135(A).

Agitation will be undertaken to prohibit illegal trade practices being carried out with silent consent of the police department !  – Mr. Sambhaji Salunkhe, District President, Bajrang Dal

‘Illegal trade practices such as gambling, Mataka, hooch etc are being carried out in city under the silent consent of the police. Still police do not take any actions against such anti-social elements. Police overlook the nuisance caused to citizen due to loud-speakers installed on mosques. We are demanding enquiry into the working of Mr. Jayavant Deshmukh, Deputy Superintendent of Police who overlooks all these illegal activities, and his disproportionate assets also be probed. Police are trying to avoid taking action against Police Constable Krushna Kambale who is accused of molesting a young girl. Now, since the police have lost the confidence of the citizens, we will start agitations against them.’ This warning was issued by Mr. Sambhaji Salunkhe.

Government choking devotees of Shivaji by restricting inter-district movement – Nitinraje Shinde

Congress government achieving the height of the appeasement of religious fanatics !

Sangli (Maharashtra) : When the Supreme Court has unambiguously given its verdict to demolish the illegal tomb of Afzalkhan, the United Front Congress government is providing police security for the construction in view of vote-bank politics. Many devotees of Shivaji Maharaj like me are barred from entering Satara district. This act by the government is choking the devotees of Shivaji Maharaj. This was opined by Mr. Nitinraje Shinde, Convener of ‘Shri Shivpratapbhumi Mukti Andolan Samiti’ in a press conference on Monday. On this occasion, Mr. Narayanrao Kadam and Mrs. Swati Shinde of Hindu Ekata Andolan were present.

Mr. Shinde further stated, due to agitation undertaken by ‘Shri Shivpratapbhumi Mukti Andolan Samiti’, the government had to ban the Urs festival being held there. Now, a drama is being enacted by the government by celebrating Shivpratapbhumi Mukti day on 19th December. In fact, the government, which supports illegal construction has no moral right to celebrate this day. Since we are banned from entering Satara district, we will distribute sugar on Wednesday, the 19th, at 11 a.m. on the Shiv Tirth at Maruti Chowk. All Hindus are requested to attend this function in a large number.
