The outcome of HJS demand with additional District Collector, North Goa, and Caculo Mall’s management
Panaji : Munawar Faruqi, a self-proclaimed comedian from Gujarat, who is in the habit of constantly deriding Hindus’ Deities, was to stage his show titled ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ in Goa on 15th November 2021. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had met the additional District Collector Mamu Hage of North Goa and Caculo Mall’s manager in this connection and made a demand through a memorandum for cancellation of the said program for maintaining social and communal harmony. Caculo Mall manager later informed HJS that the program was cancelled. The program was scheduled at 7.30 p.m. on 15.11.2021 at LVC Comedy Club and its tickets were available on the ‘BookMyShow’ app.
The memorandum was submitted by a delegation of HJS comprising of members viz. Mr Satyavijay Naik of HJS; ‘Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh’s Mr Jayesh Thali, Sanjay Nayak, Bharat Hegde, Keshav Chodankar, and Sushant Dalvi. A copy of the memorandum was submitted to Dy. Superintendent of Police Santosh Desai and Police Inspector of Panaji Police Station.
It was stated in the memorandum that in a similar program held at ‘Monroe Café’ in Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Munawar Faruqi had made the most objectionable statements about Hindu Deities and the Central Home Minister Amit Shah. He was arrested by Police at that time and was in jail for 37 days. Even earlier, he has criticised Hindu Deities through his program, stopping to a low level; besides passing controversial comments on CAA, the massacre of ‘Kar-sevaks’ at Godhra, etc, and its video is available on youtube even today. The program should, therefore, be cancelled to maintain peace in Goa.

We don’t want an artist like Munawar Faruqi who hurts Hindus’ religious sentiments! – Jayesh Thali, Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh
There is a heavy political atmosphere in Goa given the forthcoming Goa Assembly elections and programs which spread Hindu hatred are especially being organised during this period. A common man, therefore, feels whether concerted efforts are made to create a rift in two religions. Earlier, anti-Hindu painter M F Husain had drawn paintings of Hindu Deities showing them in nude and hurt religious sentiments of Hindus. Every artist should use his art to create awareness amongst people towards Dharma, but art is being used as a medium of desecration. It can indirectly create an adverse effect on our future generations. It is an attempt to destroy the religious sentiments and faith of Hindus. We do not want an artist like Munawar Faruqi in Goa who is known for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. The Goa government imposes a ban on a staunch Hindu like Pramod Mutalik, the Chief of Shriram Sena; then why is Munawar Faruqi permitted to hold programs though he is known for making controversial statements? The government, Police machinery, and Caculo Mall management should immediately cancel this program and not make people take to the streets to protest.
