Special Online discussions on ‘Comedian? No Traitor !’
Every Indian should be proud and have respect towards all glorious things in and about India. I condemn the statements made by Vir Das during his visit to the USA. A comedian has to make people laugh through his simple pure humour, but defaming one’s own country, making indecent vulgar jokes, abusing, using denigrating words for Hindu Deities is a kind of terrorism at an ideological or thought level. Instead of such artists, even a drunkard standing on a road entertains people in a better way. I don’t consider a person as a comedian or even an artist for that matter, who doesn’t follow the culture of maintaining honour of elders or social limitations. These people are enemies of the society and they should be given the same punishment as is given to an enemy of the country. They will not improve till they are put behind bars, was the frank opinion expressed by a renowned comedian from Mumbai, Mr Sunil Pal while speaking in the special online discussions program on the topic of ‘Comedian? No Traitor!’ organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
Mr Siddhant Mohite, the founder of ‘Saffron Think Tank’ from Mumbai said on the occasion that these people are spreading false information about India that a woman is worshipped during the day but is gangraped at night. Vir Das, however, is not the only example who is spreading false propaganda. Even some of the big names in Bollywood are involved in similar false propaganda. Earlier, objectionable statements were made against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Not only Vir Das but there are many such artists like Agrima Joshua, MunawarFaruqui, Kunal Karma, etc who crack dirty jokes on Hindu Deities. Why don’t they show guts and make jokes on seats of worship of Muslims and Christians? Lakshmi Rajkumar, a reporter from Karnataka said that considering the behaviour of all these artists, there seemed to be a need for psychiatric treatment for them. Vir Das, who is insulting women of this country, is not realising that he is thus comparing his own mother in this manner.
Mr Narendra Surve, the spokesperson of HJS from New Delhi said that by making fun of Deities, Saints, great national leaders, holy scriptures, and Bharatmata, they are trying to reduce people’s faith and these activities have been going on for the past few years. Such denigration was going on through films earlier; then through web series , and now, even through stand-up comedy. Recently, Allahabad High Court has stated that Ramayana, Geeta, Rama, Krushna, etc are our national honours and laws should be passed to maintain their honour. It is, therefore, even our demand that the Central Government should pass stringent laws at the national level to stop such denigration. Henceforth, Hindus will not tolerate insult of their Deities and seats of worship.
