Hyderabad : Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dharmapuri Arvind on Friday warned the IT minister KT Rama Rao for welcoming comedians and said that his party would not let stand-up comic Munawar Faruqui perform in Hyderabad, reported by Siasat Daily.
“KTR, are you a human being? That Munawar Faruqui makes jokes on Goddess Sita and his shows were banned in Karnataka. He calls that guy to Telangana for a comedy show. That means this father-son duo (Chief minister KCR, KTR) thinks Hindu society is comedic. We’ll see how they bring him here,” he added.
KT Rama Rao on December 18 had stated that comedians like Munawar Faruqui and Kunal Kamra have an “open invitation” to perform in Hyderabad.
State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar here on Saturday called upon the party yuva morcha activists to stop stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui from conducting shows in the city, reported by Telangana today.
“It is your responsibility to prevent the entry of Faruqui into the city,” he instructed the activists during a programme organized by the party in connection with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the State office in Nampally here.
BJP MLA T Raja Singh summitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police, Telangana requesting not to sanction permission to Munawar Faruqui’s show to be held in Hyderabad on 9th January.

Memorandum said that, “Munawar Faruqui is a Hindu hatred and a personality of creating communal hatred among people. Hence, it is requested not to give permission to conduct the program for keeping the social and religious cordiality in Hyderabad.”
