10 incidents: Christian missionary institutions targeted evangelism on minor Hindu students

17-year-old Lavanya from Thanjavur Tamilnadu was a victim to forced conversion in Christian missionary run school recently.  Hundreds of children studying in minority institutions are facing pressure from minority institutions.

Under the garb of education, these 10 incidences highlight on how govt aided Christian missionary schools humiliate Hindu sentiments, poor children are harassed in myriad ways if they don’t yield to the evangelist brainwashing, convert to Christianity for fee waiver, thus Hindu students face lack of safe and secure environment in Christian missionary schools.

Incident 1: Tamil Nadu police to probe suicide of student based on her dying declaration alleging ‘forced to convert’ by missionary school

  • The Tamil Nadu police have begun probing the suicide of M Lavanya, a student of standard 12th in Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Thirukattupali in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, based on her dying declaration where she alleged that the govt-aided Christian missionary school she went to had been pressuring her to convert to Christianity.
  • Thanjavur Superintendent of Police Ravali Priya Gandhapuneni has, however, confirmed now that the Tamil Nadu police have registered her dying declaration and are basing the probe on it. The police are probing all angles including the allegation that Lavanya was facing pressure to convert to Christianity from the school authorities. But for this, police will have to first find the origin of the video, said the SP.

Incident 2: Government-aided, RTE exempted Christian school Principal booked for sexual harassment of students

  • Christopher Jebakumar, the HM of Samaria Yovan Higher Secondary School in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu has been accused of sexually harassing the 12th standard students. He is said to have obtained their numbers in the pretext of organising special classes in holidays and sent them lewd messages. One victim, shocked by his behavior, talked about it to her classmates who revealed that they also received porn contents and lewd messages from the HM.

Incident 3: Complaint against Christian missionary school for punishing student who observed Ayyappa Deeksha

  • A complaint has been lodged by legal rights organization LRPF against St. Mary’s School, Sadasivpet, Sangareddy district, Telangana for punishing a Hindu student who observe Ayyappa Deeksha, the religious observance for 41 days by the devotees of Swamy Ayyappa before visiting the Sabarimala temple in Kerala.

Incident 4:  Minor girls sexually harassed by 65 year old Christian home founder in TN

  • Jesudas Raja, 65 years, a Christian children’s home founder, has been arrested for sexually abusing girl inmates. The girls ran away from the orphanage to escape his harassment. The founder had tried to evade arrest citing health issues. But the POCSO special court judge went to the hospital to investigate him and rewarded 15 days judicial remand.

 

Incident 5: Chennai School Principal Arrested On Charges Of Sexually Abusing 11-Year-Old Girl

  • Chennai police have arrested G Jayapaul, the principal of Montfort School in Perugudi, for sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl. The issue came to light after the girl refused to go to school for nearly two months. The girl revealed what had happened after her parents questioned her for the long absence from the school.
  • The protest also led to the parents of another girl alleging that Jayapaul’s sexual harassment led to their daughter committing suicide six months ago. The girl, who had scored over 97 per cent in her high school exams, was touched inappropriately by the principal when she went to get his blessing after scoring high marks.

 

Incident 6:  Madhya Pradesh: NCPCR uncovers conversion racket in Christian missionary-run girls’ hostel, orders probe

  • On November 9, Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), said in a statement that the Commission has uncovered an alleged conversion racket going on in the Christian Missionary Girls’ Hostel in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The hostel is located in Intkhedi village, Sultanpur, District Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. Kanoongo had gone to inspect the hostel, where he found that the tribal Hindu girls were brought to the hostel and were being taught Christian religious books to convert them to Christianity.

Incident 7: Christian school in TN served notice after sexual abuse complaints against sports coach surface

  • Tamil Nadu Government and SCPCR have issued notice to a Christian school in Chennai in note of sexual harassment complaints against their sports coach. St.George Anglo Indian school in Chennai has been served notice by the Ministry of School Education after the students complained about sexual harassment at the hands of athletic coach Nagarajan.
  • Nagarajan also trains students of St.Joseph Sports Academy which is also known as Prime Sports Academy, a part of St.Joseph Group of Institutions. Nagarajan was arrested after a 19 year old girl filed a complaint against him for sexually harassing her and her fellow trainers when they were underage. The issue came to light after The Hindu’s sports correspondent T.N.Raghu tweeted the confessions of some of the victims. The coach was arrested after one of the victims filed a complaint formally.

Tripura: 15-year-old student dies after he is brutally tortured by hostel warden for opposing forceful conversion to Christianity

  • A Class IX student of Holy Cross School at Pabiachhara in Kumarghat, Tripura died last week at GBP hospital after being allegedly tortured repeatedly by the hostel warden. The deceased student has been identified as Happy Debbarma.
  • According to the reports, the death of 15-year-old Debbarma has now forced the Tripura government to launch a judicial enquiry. The student died due to internal injury following a brutal attack on him by the hostel superintendent.

Govt. school teacher in Andhra Pradesh forces students to recite Bible instead of subjects

  • A shocking case of religious indoctrination & flouting of educational norms has come to light from a Government school in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The Govt. school teacher in Ramchandrapuram village, Kadapa Dist., AP makes children recite Bible instead of subjects, and justified his actions by saying that ‘only Bible will make them dear to Jesus not subjects,’ the Telugu language Bharat Today news channel has reported.

Incident 10: Christian Children Shelter Homes Involved in Abuse & Illegal Conversion in Chennia 

  • As per the report in Deccan Chronicle, the married couple Jacob and Vimala Jacob was running the private home for orphaned children under Eternal Word Trust, in Thirumullaivoyal. The incident came into light when the government school in Thirumullaivoyal organised an awareness program about sexual harassment and child welfare. Judges from Madras High court and Child Welfare Committee members were invited to address the students.
  • A total of 44 children were rescued and sent to various government children home. Besides the owners, Jacob (64) and Vimala Jacob (59), main accused as identified by the police is Babu Samuel (54) and other maintenance staff Muthu (27) and Bhaskar (39) have also been arrested.
