HJS demands immediate action by Central Government against ‘Amazon’
The National Flag and the Map of India are the national identity of millions of Indians. The use of the National Flag is covered under the ‘Flag Code of India’. It is a crime to violate any of its directives. It is also a crime to falsify or distort the Map of India. However, in violation of the Flag Code, through its website ‘Amazon’ is selling products such as T-shirts, footwear, etc. which have the Indian National Flag printed on it, as well as vinyl stickers of a distorted Map of India. The company has continued to sell all this without changing anything, even though the matter has been brought to their notice many times earlier.
Hon. @DrSJaishankar ji
Last time @SushmaSwaraj ji had issued a warning to @amazon…
Again it is noticed that Amazon US is insulting India by allowing such products to be sold on its platform!
We request you to look into the issue and take the required action. https://t.co/J6ZLYjzlWA pic.twitter.com/ErmOBh096V

Amazon’s insults to Indian national symbols must now stop. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s ‘Surajya Abhiyan’ (Campaign for good Governance) demanded with the Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Amit Shah that the Indian Government take immediate legal action against ‘Amazon’ unless the company publicly apologises to the Government and people of India. In this regard, another statement has been sent to the Minister for Home Affairs.
The statement says that this is not the first time ‘Amazon’ is selling vinyl stickers with a Map of India that excludes Pakistan occupied Kashmir and China occupied Kashmir, as well as Tricolour T-shirts and footwear printed with the Ashoka Chakra. ‘Amazon’ has previously denigrated our National Flag by selling ‘Tricolour masks’ and ‘Tricolour hats’. Some days ago, it was revealed that cannabis was also being sold on the ‘Amazon’ website. In this regard, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti under the ‘Surajya Abhiyan’ had already lodged complaints with the Central Government.
Under various sections of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950, Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act,1971 these acts are punishable offences. Therefore, we demand that the Government take strict action against ‘Amazon’ and if this does not happen, a wrong message will be conveyed to the people that Indian laws are worthless, and then, anyone will dare to insult the National Flag and Map. To prevent this, the Government of India should take immediate action on this serious issue.
