Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) : No scripture or book on Hindu Dharma has any information on celebration of ‘Valentine Day’; even then, today’s generation, exchange ‘love’ messages with great enthusiasm and under influence of this one day’s emotions, get married; but we see many such couples married on ‘Valentine Day’, unable to continue their married life in future. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and ‘Yoga Seva Vedanta Samiti (YVS)’ tried to explain the topic to students outside B.N.N. College located at ‘Dhamankar Naka’ so that they don’t fall prey to imitation of western culture.
HJS distributed handbills about ‘Valentine Day’ and YVS distributed booklets to students on how to perform ‘Matru-Pitru Pujan (worshipping mother-father)’. A representation was also submitted by HJS to the Principal of the College seeking permission to create such awareness in every class. Shri. Ravindra Kange of YVS from Bhiwandi, Shiv Sena’s ‘Shakha’-chief, Mr. Ramesh Gaikwad and HJS activists, viz. Mr. Kishore Kondalekar, Mr. Rupesh Punyarthi, Mr. Ravindra Hadke, Anupam Pande, Mr. Naresh Gulvi, Mr.Abhijit Bhojane, Mrs. Smita Chalke, Mrs. Manisha Kshirsagar and Miss Harshada Kondalekar took part in the drive of creating awareness towards Valentine Day.
