Prayagaraj (UP) : Due to stampede, which took place on 10th February at the railway station in Prayagaraj, the entire city of Kumbh is gripped with fear. Therefore, the devotees have decided not to return home soon, and prolonged their stay in Prayag.

1. Since the commencement of auspicious time for taking a Holy bath on Mauni Amavasya, instructions were announced every 15 minutes that the devotees should leave Kumbh location immediately after taking a Holy bath and proceed for the railway station from where special trains will be leaving.

2. As a result, devotees started reaching railway station from the morning on that day after taking a Holy bath.

3. Due to lack of coordination between the Mela administration and railway administration, crowd of devotees turned towards the railway station. After the occurrence of the accident, instructions were being announced to desist from going to the railway station and staying put in Kumbh location. However, by that time, lakhs of devotees had already reached Darganj, Rambag, Civil Lines, state transport bus-station, and railway station.

4. No guidance about the direction in which to proceed was available to the devotees leaving the Kumbh location. Therefore, devotees started proceeding by whichever way they could find. As a result, most of the roads in the city became extremely crowded.

5. Irrespective of the area of entire Prayag city, where devotees were present, there was no unified responsibility command in that area. Once the devotees left the Kumbh location, Mela administration shirked its responsibility towards devotees. Later on, the devotees were driven from roads towards the railway station; afterwards, railway administration refused to take responsibility of these devotees.

6. Due to the accident, which took place due to lack of control from administrative set-up devotees became scared, and they preferred, instead of travelling, to stay in the city on whichever open place they could find.

7. The devotees had to face a lot of hardships by staying in the extremely cold weather. In spite of this, nobody has taken responsibility for this incident; on the contrary, devotees themselves were held responsible.
