Magh Shuklapaksha 9, Kaliyug Varsha 5114

The Executive Council of Panun Kashmir held a meeting today at Jammu. The meeting discussed and finalized some important organizational programmes to be undertaken in the near future. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir. It was among others attended by S/Shri Virender Raina, National Spokesperson-PK, J.L.Kaul, Vice President, Upinder Kaul, General Secretary, Kamal Bagati, R.L.Sharma, B.N.Khaar, Sameer Bhat, Vineet Sikal and Akshy Pandita. It was decided to incorporate some important youth activists as members, so as to make the Executive Council more vibrant and inclusive in nature. Shri Vijay Qazi and Shri Ramesh Kaul were given the responsibilities as Publicity Secretary and Office Secretary. The Daughters of Panun Kashmir representatives Smt. Vimla Chrungoo, Anita Kachroo and Sarojini Kuchroo were given the responsibility of organizing programmes of socio-cultural nature.

Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir while addressing the meeting said that Panun Kashmir views with serious concern the policy of the Government of India in facilitating the secessionist elements of Kashmir to visit Pakistan over the years. It has been observed that the secessionists have used these visits to meet forces that are inimical to the sovereignty and security of India. The visits have been used to plan and create new grounds for fermenting trouble in the Kashmir valley on a perpetual basis. The ‘magnanimous attitude’ of the GOI towards the secessionist elements is being misused to meet the likes of Hafiz Sayeed. We demand that the government of India issues a white paper explaining the objectives and reasons for facilitating such visits. It also needs to explain the reasons which have compelled the GOI to “outsource” its Kashmir policy over the years. In case it is part of the so-called tarck-II parleys, then the whole process is under compete cloud. There is a need for the Indian state to review the whole process of engagement with Pakistan and make a paradigm shift from its current policy paralysis on Kashmir.

Shri Virender Raina, Spokesperson-PK said that the Kashmiri Pandits, being the prime victims of terrorism in Kashmir, have the responsibility to caution the nation about the multifaceted threats emerging from the current political situation in the region. We cannot afford to sit silent as Kashmiri Pandits are the prime stakeholders of Kashmir. The resettlement of the prime stakeholders in Kashmir has to be in tune with their geo-political aspirations in the form of a separate homeland with free flow of Indian constitution. Panun Kashmir will not allow a situation to arise in which there remain any chances of refoulment. In the meanwhile, the government must hasten the process of economic rehabilitation of the displaced community on a priority basis.
