Prayagaraj (UP) : Due to incessant rains for 2 days from the day of Vasant Panchami, the basic facilities in Kumbh city have been thrown out of gear. In addition, due to increase in the levels of water in the rivers Ganga and Yamuna, the artificial banks are submerging under water one after another. In such a situation, the Kumbh Mela administration will have to confront fresh challenges to restore the arrangements for a Holy bath on Maghi Pournima to be held on 25th February.
Due to torrential rains, the roads constructed with the help of iron plates have also been disturbed. These iron plates have slipped from their original locations at most of the places, and at some places the plates have been put out of joints. Mud has accumulated everywhere. Devotees residing in Kumbh city are still staying in Sector nos. 6,7,8,9, and 10. At such times, Sector 10 has been fully submerged under the water. Due to continuous increase observed in the levels of water in the rivers Ganga and Yamuna, the artificial banks are getting demolished. It will be impossible to construct new banks till the water level stops increasing. The Mela administration has guessed that around one and quarter crores of devotees may arrive for a Holy bath on Maghi Pournima. In this background, the administration has started to restore the system on the war footing.
