Varanasi: Online lecture by HJS on the topic of ‘Gudhi Padva’

Celebrating New Year on Chaitra Shuddha Pratipada has natural, historical, and spiritual significance ! – Pujya Nilesh Singbal, ‘Dharmapracharak’ Saint, HJS

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) – Presently, new year is celebrated on first January by blindly following western culture when Hindus’ new year is Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. Brahmadev had created this Universe on this day and it was also the beginning of the ‘Satya-Yuga’. From this day, the time was started to be measured under Hindu culture. Chaitra Shukla Pratipada is also one of the 3-1/2 auspicious ‘muhurtas’ of the year. Thus, starting new year from Chaitra Shuddha Pratipada i.e. ‘Gudhi Padva’ has natural, historical, and spiritual significance, stated Pujya Nilesh Singbal, the ‘Dharmapracharak’ Saint of HJS in an online lecture held by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS).

Pujya Singbal also explained the scientific way of celebrating ‘Gudhi Padva’, the way ‘Brahma-dhvaj’ i.e. ‘Gudhi’ is to be erected, ‘puja-vidhi’, and how the ‘Gudhi’ is to be lowered in the evening. In the end, Pujya Singbal appealed to all people to spread the knowledge amongst people about the harm caused by celebrating the new year as per western culture. Many people had joined the online lecture.
