Magh Krushnapaksha 5, Kaliyug Varsha 5114
Pandit Rajaram Tiwari |
After the Holy bath of Magh Pournima, majority of residents in Kumbh Mela departed, but the names of devotees lost in Mela still continued to be announced from ‘Lost and found camp’. Shri. Nityanand Bhise, representative of Daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ met Pandit Rajaram Tiwari. Pandit Tiwari said, “Whoever was lost in Kumbh Mela has rejoined their families and went back with his relatives. The relatives of the individuals lost in Kumbh Mela are trying to locate them. There will be a crowd of 20-25 lakhs of devotees for the Holy bath on Mahashivratra; therefore, we will continue this service till 10th March.”
Tiwari alleges corruption in planning for Kumbh Mela !
While speaking about the planning exercise for Kumbh Mela, Pandit Tiwari said, “Many improper incidents have been noticed occurring during Kumbh Mela, but I had no desire to look at them. In stead, I felt it more appropriate to concentrate on service to people. The officers, who had not displayed even the slightest sensitiveness about the river Ganga and confluence misappropriated crores of rupees from the government treasury in the name of Kumbh Mela. I was taken back into history due to the incident of stampede. In the year 1954, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru visited Kumbh Mela on the day of the Holy bath, when the crowd of devotees was at its peak. As a result, due to the stampede of devotees from both sides, nearly 1000 lost their lives. The negligence displayed by the administration was the same as was displayed during the latest incident of stampede.
Change in the mentality of devotees in Kumbh Mela !
While speaking about Kumbh Mela and river Ganga, he said, “The state of river Ganga has become pitiable. The water of 50 drainages from just the city of Prayagraj is being released in the river Ganga. Excretion and garbage are being thrown in the river. Soap is used while taking a bath. In early days, the devotees considered maintaining the sanctity of river Ganga as their religious duty. However, the mentality of devotees has undergone a lot of change. Kumbh Mela has now become an ostentation and fashion. I regret the grandeur displayed by the rich.”
