Central Govt. should inspect convent schools which are centres of conversion ! – Col Rajendra Shukla, a Retired Officer, Indian Army

Convent schools have been teaching Christianity and using different media to convert people. None of the governments from the pre-independence era tried to check what exactly was being taught in convent schools; whether they were following Indian Constitution while educating children or what were their sources of funds, etc. The present Central Government should at least conduct an inspection of these convent schools which have been the centres of conversion, demanded a former Indian Army Officer, Colonel Rajendra Shukla while participating in the special online discussion program held by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on the topic of ‘Christian Convents or Centres of Conversion?’.

Esther Dhanraj, a teacher at ‘Christian Studies’, Telangana said that since the time East India Company came to India till now, conversion of Hindu students has been the only goal of convent schools established by Christian missionaries. They are trying to convert Hindu students and to make Hindus a minority population all over the country, like in Kerala. Dr. Rinku Vadhera, a writer from Delhi said that during the pre-independence era, the Christian missionaries entered the Indian education system to destroy Hindu traditions. They have a strong network all over the country and even today, parents feel that convent education is the best education, but some awareness has been created compared to earlier days and Hindu parents are opposing the wrong things happening in such schools.

Mr Ramesh Shinde, the national spokesperson of HJS said that convent schools are not only teaching the Bible, but they are creating an atmosphere in these schools which is Christianity-oriented. Hindu students are forced to learn Bible, which is against the Child Protection laws in India. The education imparted in every school in this country should be complementary to values mentioned in the Constitution, but it is not so in convent schools. Students are harassed by teaching Bible; therefore, we are opposing it. We also appeal to parents of students studying in convent schools to come forward and lodge complaints. Presently, many convent schools and education institutes have majority Hindu students; still, why are they extended special facilities given to minority class, also needs to be checked.
