Hindu Vishwa Vidyalaya (USA) to work jointly with HJS

Panaji (Goa): Dr. Narasinh Rao, the President of Hindu Vishwa Vidyalaya (HVV), USA said that HVV would keep in touch with Sanatan Sanstha, HJS and work jointly on issues like M F Hussain. A seminar was held here recently on spreading ancient Indian Arts in modern era. The seminar was attended by Dr. Rao. In the morning session, Mr. Shakti Maira from New Delhi expressed his views on beauty in daily life through Indian standpoint. After his speech, Dr. Narasinh Rao asked him about his opinion on paintings by Hussain denigrating Hindu deities; but he avoided answering Dr. Rao. Later, during tea-break, Dr. Rao again posed the same question to Mr. Maira; but again he did not answer. Dr. (Mrs.) Nandini Samant, a seeker of Sanatan Sanstha met Dr. Rao and explained to him about Sanatan Sanstha’s campaign against Hussain.

Dr. Rao has been the Head of the Computer Science Department at the University of Florida for the past 4 decades. He spoke on how mathematics originated in India and later spread to Europe and other countries. Mr. Ranade from Aurobindo ashram at Pondicherry and the President of the Conference said in their address that Indian mathematics reached Europe when it met with a strong opposition from the Church. The mathematicians fought with the Church for nearly 500 years to make available this knowledge to the world. Mr. Ranade further said that the methodology of Western countries is one of gaining knowledge from lower to higher rungs; whereas in Indian culture, our sages acquired the highest knowledge at the level of experiences through the ‘Vedas’ and to make it easy to understand, they put it in the ‘Upnishadas’ and it was later made still easier through various stories narrated in the ‘Puranas’. Now Indians are trying to develop different techniques at subtler and practical and more useful level.

Dr. Alaka Dev-Marulkar, an expert in Indian classical music said that music originated from Lord Shiva. He gave the knowledge to Sage Narada and through Him; it was passed on to mankind. Indian music has the power to take the singer and listener to a state of bliss. This music can awaken kundalini charkas and have control over the five basic elements, the pancha-mahabhutas. She said that it was possible to attain God through Indian music.
