Phalgun Krushnapaksha 1, Kaliyug Varsha 5114

Mumbai : Six years back, at Kavi Kalidas Theatre in Mulund, Christian missionaries had organized a program called ‘Brothers Manual Ministry’ in which they cheated poor people in the name of curing their diseases through miracles. Cognizable offence was registered against Mr. Sunil Manuel Kelvin, the organizer of the said program under clause 5 of ‘Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable advertisements) Prohibition Act, 1954’.  Hearing of the said case has started from 25th March 2013, Monday in Lower Court at Mulund. The Judge recorded, in detail, statement of Shri. Kashiram Parab, the Convener of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS).

The program was held in November 2006, when activists of HJS followed up the matter for taking action against the organizers of the program. As a result, police had to file a case against Kelvin. A pamphlet was circulated in this background wherein examples were given claiming that with a prayer in the name of ‘holy spirit’, throat disease which the person suffered for 14 years got cured; blind person’s eye getting opened etc. A case was, therefore, filed against the printer and publisher of the said pamphlet for misguiding people. In December 2006, he was arrested. Hearing on this case has started on Monday, 25th March. Dr. Uday Dhuri of HJS was also present during the hearing. Next hearing of the case has been adjourned till 8th July 2013.
