Updates of Success

After the protest emails sent by devout Hindus, Shelah Horvitz has shown maturity and by understanding religious feelings of Hindus are getting hurt from her images. As a result, she has immediately removed the picture insulting Shriram and Hanuman and after her insistence, Atlantic Works Gallery has also removed the picture and entire blog entry from their blog.

We also appeal everyone not to protest further.

Response sent to HJS by Shelah Horwitz

I am sorry to have offended. I thought of Hanuman as a symbol of removing obstacles, and it did not occur to me that it could be seen as homosexual. I was trying to speak about seeing the unity of all things and I actually meant the greatest respect for Hindu values. The fact that it has been read otherwise tells me the piece has failed, so I have taken it off my website. The Atlantic Works blog entry has been removed, and I am working with Atlantic Works to remove the incendiary text on the last link. I did not mean to insult Hindus or denigrate Hinduism. The piece failed to achieve my goals, so I take it down.

Appeal to devout Hindus

An American Art Gallery website, ‘Atlantic Works Gallery’ is displaying very disturbing art exhibition that has come to our notice that gravely insults Prabhu Shriram and Hanuman in most vulgar and homosexual manner. This painting is painted by an artist named Shelah Horvitz.

Now it is duty of all devout Hindus all over the world to protest lawfully against the painter, who have insulted Hindu Dharma under the guise of ‘Art and Freedom of Expression’ and against the Art Gallery which is providing platform to such people, so that they apologise to Hindu community and remove all such paintings insulting Hindu Dharma. Also we should ensure that they should not commit such mistake in future.

Visitors can send their lawful protest to concern authorities through our comments section.
