Thane: On 18th February at 4.30 p.m. at the Gadkari Rangayatan hall in Thane, on behalf of the HJS a peaceful protest was held to oppose the play ‘Vastraharan’ which ridicules Hindu deities, in which 35 members participated. People who had purchased tickets for the play and other onlookers were made aware of the denigration of deities involved in this play. In fact the protesters were successful in convincing several people who returned without seeing the drama.

Reactions of people standing in a line to buy a tickets for the play

  • Shri. S.V. Kulkarni, G.R.Samant and Ganesh Kamble – We have still not seen the drama but it if really disrespects deities then most certainly it is an unforgivable.
  • Mr. Chandrakant (Bhau) Doke – The members of the censor board should be made aware of this. It is they who should not permit such plays denigrating religion.
  • Ms. Priya Palkar, Kalyan – When we realised that the Hindu religion has been ridiculed in this play instead of watching it were are returning home.
