Illegal cattle transport : Mangalore Police seize Bolero with 3 cows and 3 calves

Mangalore : Mahendra Bolero Pick-up bearing number KA 19 D 948, which was allegedly transporting 6 cows and calves illegally from B C Road to the slaughter house in the city, near Platinum Talkies in Falnir was seized by Pandeshwar Police on May 12 at around 4:25 AM.

According to the police sources, there were 3 cows and 3 calves stolen from different places in Bantwal and were being transported to the slaughter houses in Mangalore. The Pick up was plying towards Mangalore at high speed and due to the wind, the cover of the vehicle was swaying high and one Pradeep Kumar saw the cows inside the vehicle. He along with his friends tried to stop the vehicle at Nagori but the vehicle did not stop, instead the vehicle increased speed and proceeded further.

Pradeep along with his friends followed the vehicle in their two wheelers and succeeded to stop the vehicle at Falnir. The pick-up driver and other two persons, who were in the vehicle fled from the spot. When they checked inside the vehicle, they saw 3 cows and 3 calves being tied with ropes.

Pradeep immediately informed the Pandeshwar police and explained about the cow transport. The Pandeshwar police reached the spot and seized the vehicle and the cattle.

A case has been registered in the Pandeshwar police station and investigation is on.
