Maybe a few people would be satisfied by the tactical apology from the old man, but Hindu Janjagruti Samiti is not impressed nor so is the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. According to Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, the question is not only of sentiments or feelings of 1 billion Indians and 80% Hindu population of India, but also of National pride and National integration. Husain’s painting was not only Anti-Dharmic but also Anti-National.
It has been a time and again demonstrated tactic of Husain to apologize for his paintings before the press on one hand and keep selling and exhibiting his paintings all over the world for millions of Rupees. This is what he had done in 1996 and had got away scott free after all offenses registered against him were declared to be invalid by the court in 2004. This time however, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti is determined not to let him get away.
The most important point is that the Government has not done anything to stop Husain and therefore Hindu Janjagruti Samiti was compelled to take up the matter and come over the streets.
It is now the prime demand of the Samiti that its campaign will not end till Government does not arrest M.F. Husain and subsequently confiscates all his objectionable paintings and destroys them. The Samiti has also demanded that all his National Awards be taken back.
