‘Hamdard does not employ Hindus’: Mahapanchayat in Haryana demands 50% reservation for local Hindus in jobs in the company

Residents of Manesar village and local Hindu outfits, following a mahapanchayat, have demanded from the Hamdard laboratories to reserve 50 per cent of the jobs in the unit for Hindus.

Accusing the Unani pharmaceutical major of biased employment, the panchayat said while the unit was set up on land acquired from Hindu farmers and took all rebates from the government for being a trust, it did not hire any local Hindu worker.

Submitting a memorandum to the local administration, they demanded quota, threatening to get the unit shut in case of non- compliance.

“We the farmers of Manesar have given up our lands for these industries to be set up. There are vacancies in Hamdard, but whenever any local applies for job, despite being competent and qualified, he is not given chance. We want administration to visit the unit and see for itself that they do not have any Hindu workers,” said former sarpanch Ramavtar.

“We need a thorough investigation in the unit’s workforce hiring and profile,” said local resident and Vishwa Hindu Parishad member Davinder. Meanwhile, DCP Manesar Mahveer Singh said the situation was completely normal in the area after the mahpanchayat and the police were ensuring peace and law and order in the area.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Tribune, Shailesh Tiwari, Chief of Operations unit, Manesar, refuted allegations and dismissed threats as publicity stunt.

“I am a Hindu who is heading the unit here and that says all about the recruitment policy. I cannot divulge anymore but can say, these allegations and threats are all baseless publicity stunts. The unit is secure,” he said.
