Jyeshtha Krushnapaksha 8, Kaliyug varsh 5115
If Hindus’ Holy Scriptures are not taught in schools, how will ideals be created in society?
If Ramayana is not taught, how will deals like Seeta, Urmila, Lakshman and Rama be created? If ‘Bhagavad Geeta’ is not taught, how will Hindu children get to know about the teachings of ‘Karma-Yoga’ by Srikrushna? If Mahabharata is not taught, Hindu students will not know about Satyawan and Savitri. – Dr. V. P. Sharma, Advocate, Ram-janma-bhoomi (Savarkar Times [monthly], May 2009)
All-round development of students is possible only through Hindu scriptures !
Earlier, one used to recite ‘Shubham karoti’ at the time of lighting lamps in the evening. Now, children watch cartoon or other serials on TV. They are not taught about the mission undertaken patriotic revolutionaries. Students are mentally, intellectually and ideologically disturbed by various things happening around them. In today’s atmosphere of intense competition, children are emotionally suffocated. A student with average intellect is caught in depression, finds no way out and adopts the path of suicide.
Our culture teaches loyalty towards one’s achieving goals and towards life. As such depression is kept at bay. Knowledge given in ‘Geeta’ explains how to lead life. Incidents from Ramayana and Mahabharata teach us what should be done as also what should not be done, making us capable to fight against impatience and haste. Students don’t get to read such things in text books.
