Bhor (Pune) : Practices which have no scriptural sanction, like immersing idols in artificial tanks, donation of worshipped idols etc. are implemented under the guise of combating pollution. But this results in gross denigration of Shri Ganesh. So Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and like-minded organizations submitted a petition to the Bhor administration seeking to end these practices, as well as to discourage the manufacture and sale of papier mache Ganesh idols (which have been termed as polluting by the NGT).
This petition was given to Naib Tehsildar of Bhor Manohar Patil. He appreciated the activity. He showed the order from the Government with regard to making Shri Ganesh idol using ‘Shadu’ clay along with a copy of the guidelines for Ganeshotsav Mandals, pandals, decoration and procession. He asked that any shortcomings or inappropriate activities noticed should be brought to the notice of the Administration and Police; while assuring the delegation that they will take immediate action.
Mr Pandurang Patil of Vyasanmukti Yuvak Sangha, Mr Rohit Deshmane of Shri Shivpratishthan Hindustan and Mr Vishwajit Chavhan and Mr Ashok Barik of HJS were present.
