Mumbai : Just as news of religious conversion in Dahanu (Palghar District) broke out, more instances of religious conversions of tribal women in Nagar district have surfaced. Recently a priest in Sambhajinagar was found claiming that serious disorders would be cured in ‘Changai’ (healing) meetings. These incidents are merely the tip of the iceberg, religious conversion is rampant across the state, albeit in secret. Based on that, on 29 th November 2014, Retd. Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari had recommended that the Maharashtra government pass an Anti-conversion Law. Hence, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has placed a demand to implement an Anti-conversion Law before the MLAs of Shivsena and BJP. The MLAs also have assured that they will raise this issue under their own letterhead and see the passage of the law.
