Pune: The vacant plot near Sanas grounds in Saras Baug has been reserved by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for ‘Hanging Gardens’ project. In this connection, shops and other encroachments have already been removed by the PMC; but no efforts have been made by PMC to remove unauthorized construction of Adambaug mosque from the reserved plot. In this connection, a meeting was held by leaders of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha with the Deputy Municipal Corporation of PMC when an assurance was given that within a month, process of shifting the mosque will be completed; but nothing has been done so far.
Proposed demonstrations were cancelled to avoid rift between two factions of the society. In the last week, PMC issued a notice to demolish the 150 years old temple of Sree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj although it was earlier promised that a new temple would be constructed there. Considering the policy of PMC in this regard, it is essential to take immediate action against the mosque. It has been warned that strong campaign will be started in case no action is taken till Thursday.
