Sindhudurga: Kasak Siddhivinayak Trust and Siddhivinayak Cultural Foundation had organized a competition of one-act plays. In a one-act play titled ‘Sangeet Vastraharan’, there was mockery of great characters depicted in Mahabharata. Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) strongly condemned the writer and director of the play who is a teacher by profession. Later, he tendered an apology for presenting such a play and promised that such denigration would not be done again. After the play, members of HJS went backstage and asked the writer whether he would ridicule his wife or mother in such manner. They told him that he could have shown good qualities of the great characters in Mahabharata and firmly told him that such denigration would not be tolerated. The writer was told that denigration of revered characters is wrong; and one who tolerates it is also equally responsible. Members of HJS also met the organizers and took them to task for having allowed such play in the competition.
