The Hindu Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti protested
against Kannada Novel Dhundi and its author Yogesh Master in Mangalore on Friday.

Bangalore : A City Civil and Sessions Court on Friday passed an interim order of injunction on sale and distribution of Dhundi, the controversial novel by Yogesh Master, till September 28. The author, who was arrested on Thursday, was granted bail by another court on Friday.

The interim injunction was ordered by the 37th Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge Mallikarjuna Gowda on a suit filed by several Hindu activists who complained that the novel, released on August 24, had portrayed Lord Ganesh in a manner that hurt the sentiments of Hindus and of people of other faiths who worship the deity. The suit was filed by Pramod Muthalik of Sri Rama Sene and RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath, among others.

They contended that most of the statements in the book were assumptions and presumptions that had no basis. The words used in the novel were “defamatory” , they complained.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yogesh Master was granted bail by the VIII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The case will be heard on September 12.

Ban anti- Ganesha Novel Dhundi and Arrest the author – HJS

August 29, 2013

Dhundi : Aranyakanobba Ganapatiyad Kathe (A story about a wild Ganapati)’ is a book recently published in Kannada language in which Sri Ganesha has been denigrated by referring to Him as ‘Goonda and Vighnanayak’ !

Hindus should oppose to such anti-Dharma book, in lawful manner ! Ask Congress to ban this anti- Ganesha book as it had banned a book named ‘Satanic Verses’ because it was against Prophet Mohammad !

Fanatics issue a ‘fatwa’ for killing author of book writing against objects of worship of Muslims ! Hindus are tolerant, they should condemn this anti-Dharma book, in lawful manner !

Bengaluru – Ganapati is not God but He is ‘Anarya’, a ‘goonda’, ‘Vighnanayak (creator of obstacles)’ is propagated in a recently published Kannada book titled ‘Dhundi : Aranyakanobba Ganapatiyad Kathe (A story about a wild Ganapati)’. Yogesh Master is the name of author of this book which is published by ‘Rajmarg Sahitya Sanskruti’, Bengaluru.

1. The book ‘Dhundi’ has been based on other Kannada books viz. ‘Lokayat Haagu Ganapatya (Lokayat and Ganapatya) by Deviprasad Chattopadhyaya and ‘Devalayagalu Mattu Kaingik Shilpa (Templeas and sexual sculptures) by Tapi Dharmaravu etc. Writer Yogesh Master has supported the views of the said authors in ‘foreward’ of his book.

2. The book was recently released in a program held at Indian Institute of World Culture Hall when participating litterateurs like K. N. Ganesan, Dr. C. N. Ganesan, Banjgere Jaiprakash etc. commended Yogesh Master who has described Ganapati as arrogant, cruel and ‘anarya’.

3. Mr. Ramchandra said, “It is a subject of research. It is a very controversial and difficult subject which has been handled objectively by undertaking research. It should not be limited to only Ganapati but research should be carried out in respect of even other Gods.”

4. It is very daring to describe Ganapati worshipped in India on large scale, as cruel, ‘goonda’ etc. It is observed from this book that Yogesh Master has lot of proofs to describe Ganapati in such manner. – K. N. Ganeshayya, literary (Will these literary dare to write or talk about objects of worship of Muslims or Christians ? Hindus are tolerant; therefore, they are daring to criticise Dharma ! Hindus should oppose, in lawful manner, such ‘Dharma-drohis’ and take them to task wherever they come across such persons ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Few main objectionable points from this book !

1. ‘Dhundi’ was a wild person who became ‘Ganapati’. (What is the proof for this story ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

2. Ganapati was God of backward, of low caste, is what even stated by Manu. (It is a lie to say such thing. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

3. Since Ganapati accepts anything which is not wanted to others, a God of ‘Shudras’; therefore, He is also referred to as ‘Ucchishta Ganapati’. (Can God be different for ‘Shudras’ and for non-‘shudras’ ? No research is involved in interpreting any word in whatever way one wants ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

4. Not only in ‘Puranas’ but even in ancient sculptures, Ganapati has been described very dreadfully as ‘Digambar’, without any figurative. (Do these ‘Dharma-drohis’ have ability to understand such description intellectually ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

5. Vinayak has been described in ‘Manav Guhya-sutra’ as a wicked person who creates obstacles. How such Vighneshwar came to be known as God who destroys all obstacles ?

6. How Brahmins were ready to mix with God of ‘shudras’/ low caste people ? (It shows that there is no difference as God of Brahmins and God of ‘Shudras’. ‘Dharma-drohis’ like Yogesh Master are trying to divide Hindus through such disgraceful criticism. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

7. Ganapati was ‘Anarya’. He was cruel; therefore, everyone used to worship Him out of fear and nobody had any love for him. He was, therefore, considered among fiery ‘Rudras’.

Devout Hindus oppose this book

The points against Dharma as mentioned in the above book were published in local newspapers generating rage  amongst Hindus. Few TV channels held discussions on this topic and few Ganesha-Mandals staged demonstrations. Representatives of pro-Hindu organisations and thinkers, educationists, historians etc. have expressed anger over the book in which views of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) have also been published.

Decision will be taken after discussing the book – Additional Police Commissioner

Hindu Mahasabha and Saints have demanded to take action as per laws against the writer of this book. Kamalpant, the additional Police Commissioner of Bengaluru has said that decision would be taken after discussions. (Will police give such answer if similar incident would have taken place related to objects of worship of Muslims or Christians ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Arrest the author ! – HJS

It is a conspiracy to hurt religious sentiments of Hindus when Ganesha Festival is approaching. Last year, Dr. Zakir Naik had also insulted Sri Ganesha at the time of Ganesha Festival. Now, case should be filed against the author and he should be arrested; else HJS will stage demonstrations all over the State ! – Shri. Mohan Gauda, spokesperson, HJS, Karnataka
