Satara: The District Collector has issued an order banning ‘Abhisheka’ in Shambhu Mahadeva temple at Shikhar Shinganapur during the Chaitra fair. A local advocate Shri. Ashok Badave has demanded withdrawal of the order. He has warned that if the order is not withdrawn, legal action will be taken. He also gave a representation in this regard to the District Collector and the Police Superintendent.
It has been mentioned in the representation that it there is a tradition since long to perform puja and ‘Abhisheka’ in Shambhu Mahadeva temple. Dahivadi Court has also passed a verdict that the ‘Abhisheka and ‘Puja’ should not be discontinued and it is still in force. But the District collector has been misguided by the Asst. Police Inspector Shri. Shinde from Dahivadi and police officer from Vaduj just for their vengeance on ‘Badave’ community; they have cited a mishap that occurred at the Mahadev fair some years ago. The decision of disallowing ‘Abhisheka’ can disturb the law and order situation and it would be difficult for the administration to maintain peace at the fair.
(Adv. Ashok Badave’s stance of taking legal action against the anti-Hindu order is praise-worthy. We need such active Hindus. Would police show the same guts to bring a ban on activities of other religions? – Editor)
