Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government is giving in to the pressure of certain organisations that intend to eradicate faith, under the pretext of eradicating superstitions, and is attempting to enact the Anti-Superstition Act. This Act, which has been passed by the Legislative Assembly, is awaiting approval from the Legislative Council. Likewise, the Government is also attempting to enact the ‘Temple Takeover Act’ to bring under its control the places of worship of Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis and Buddhists excluding mosques, dargahs and madarsas from its purview. Both these proposed Acts are an attack on Hindu Dharma.
The Maharashtra Government is trying to pass both these Acts in its Budget session that is scheduled to start from the 14th March. However, these Acts are facing widespread opposition in the form of agitations by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), the Warkari Sect, trustees of various temples and Hindu organisations all over Maharashtra. This agitation is being conducted in the form of protest marches, signature campaigns, memorandums, etc. in various districts through constitutional means.
The HJS’ demands that both these Acts should not be passed but dismissed altogether and has decided to intensify its agitation by conducting an organised chain hunger strike. Social, Religious and Hindu organisations, temple trustees, devotees of the Warkari sect and various other sects are also going to participate in this chain hunger strike. HJS demand all Hindus to participate in this hunger strike and perform their ‘Dharma karya’ (religious duty)

Hunger strike by HJS and HMSS against Anti-Hindu Bills
Ambejogai: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Hindu Mahila Sangharsh Samiti (HMSS) went on a token hunger strike as a mark of protest against the anti-Hindu Acts proposed by the State Government. About 85 Hindus participated in the hunger strike. The participants gave a representation to the District Collector demanding withdrawal of the proposed Acts related to Black Magic and Taking Over Management of Temples. With the objective of repayment of the huge loans raised by the State Government and to turn Hindus towards atheism, the secular Maharashtra Government has proposed such anti-Hindu Acts. The campaign is therefore, carried on in a legal and peaceful manner, said the Secretary of HMSS. Leaders of many Hindu religious parties took part in the agitation. Members of HJS explained to the audience regarding the effect of passing these Acts.
A rally has been organized as the next step of the agitation for 15th March. Hindu organizations have appealed to people to participate in the rally in large numbers.
(Congratulations to HJS and HMSS for fighting against anti-Hindu Bills)
