Issue of torture of Navalkishore Sharma : Govt. pleader silent on remonstration by Indore HC

Matter pertaining to illegal detention of Navalkishore Sharma, the organiser of Bhojshala Muktiyadnya movement

  • Why was he not produced before a magistrate within 24 hours?

  • Was the police custody sought over telephone?

Indore : Shri. Navalkishore Sharma, the former Pracharak of Rashtriya Svayamsevak Sangh, organiser of Bhojshala Muktiyadnya movement and a devout Hindu was illegally arrested by Madhya Pradesh Police in February and inhumanly beaten. In this matter, Shri. Sharma has filed a petition in the Indore High Court. During the hearing of the case held on 26th September, Hon. Court remonstrated the Government pleader by asking questions to him and Police Officer present in the court, such as, ‘Why was Shri. Sharma not produced before a magistrate within 24 hours ? Have you sought his police custody over telephone from the magistrate ?’ On this occasion, Justice N. K. Modi ordered them to submit, within 3 days, a detailed report on the issue of arrest.

Similarly, an order was issued to the then Police Superintendent and other police officers to remain present in court on the date of the next hearing, which is fixed for 7th October.

Information given by Shri. Sharma to the Court regarding inhuman assault on him

  1. I was travelling to Dehali on 10th February 2013, when the police surrounded me at Jabalpur. They pushed me out of train.
  2. I was abducted from that place and was taken to the jungle near Jabalpur. An attempt was made on my life.
  3. The police threatened me by pointing a revolver at my head and said they would take all Hinduttva out of my head.
  4. Then, I was asked to run away, however, a phone call was received by the police at that moment, and I was taken to Indore.
  5. Since I was taken ill at Indore, I was admitted to M. Y. Hospital.
  6. Even though, I was admitted in I.C.U., the police carried me to a different place and beat me by tying my hands and feet.
  7. I was not produced by the police before a magistrate within 24 hours of my detention.

Police Superintendent ordered to submit the report within 3 days.

Why talking against BJP Government despite belonging to RSS? – Questioned Judge

When Shri. Sharma informed the court that he was an activist of Rashtriya Svayamsevak Sangh, Hon. Justice asked why he was talking against BJP Government despite belonging to RSS ? Shri. Sharma replied, he was forced to speak out since police had beaten him and tried to kill him.

After the hearing, Shri. Sharma told representatives of media that the State Government is adopting double standards in respect of Hindus on the issue of Bhojshala.
