Will the State Government take any action against persons responsible for cow-slaughter taken place earlier ?
Mumbai – Since, as per the provisions of Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976, slaughter of cows and certain other animals suitable for agricultural purposes is prohibited, State Government will start taking possession of all such animals including cows from various places from 15 days prior to Bakri Eid and will keep them under protection in cow-pens of Animal Husbandry Department. (When barely 5 days are left for Bakri Eid, how a ridiculous decision has been taken to implement this law prior to 15 days? It shows fallacy in assurance given by the Government. We have had enough of such meaningless democracy wherein false assurances are given in the Court of law ! – Editor, Daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’) These cows and other animals will be handed over to their owners 2 days after Bakri Eid, as per the information given by Government counsel, Sandip Shinde to the Mumbai High Court.
1. Since cows are being slaughtered on the day of Eid, Bharatya Govansh Rakshan Sanvardhan Parishad had filed public interest litigation last year in Mumbai High Court. On basis of the orders issued by the High Court, animals of cow-lineage brought for the slaughter to Deonar slaughter house were examined. Fifty three animals out of these were found to be suitable for agricultural purposes. Therefore, the petitioners and Mumbai Municipal Corporation took possession of these animals. However, petitioner refused to hand over the animals back to the owners. (Will the State Government explain as to what action has been taken against persons responsible for bringing animals to the slaughter house, which were suitable for agricultural purposes,? – Editor, Daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’)
2. Khalid Qureshi, President of All India Animal Market Organisation made a request through an application to cancel the order issued by the Mumbai High Court last year. This matter was heard by the bench comprising Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud and Justice M.S. Sonak. As per the suggestion made by Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud to the counsels from both sides to arrive at compromise, the State Government took responsibility of protecting all the cows and other animals suitable for agricultural purposes; however, it will not allow any interference from Bharatya Govansh Rakshan Sanvardhan Parishad on that occasion for fear of causing law and order problem. The above submission was made to Court by the Government. (O Hindus ! Unite and try for protection of all cows/ cattle, and not just those suitable for agricultural purposes ! – Editor, Daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’)
