Mumbai – Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar, the National President of the Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad has approached the Maharashtra CM seeking the immediate implementation of a revised ‘Maharashtra Prevention of Cut Practices’ Act, which has been pending since 2017.
In his statement, Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar has said that ‘we are pursuing this issue since 2021. On 2nd September 2021, we, the Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, had written a letter to shed light on the importance of this Act, as well as the flaws in the draft of the Act, and to implement this Act in an amended form at the earliest. Our organization has been constantly reviewing the progress of this draft act ever since. This subject is very important from the point of view of social welfare. The ‘cut practice’ ultimately puts strain on the pocket of the patient, i.e. the consumer. Patient interests are not protected. The Supreme Court has also taken a clear stand in its recent judgment. Hence this law is of utmost importance. If this law is enacted, the state of Maharashtra will become the first state in the country to enact this law.
@CMOMaharashtra there is need to pass a law against #cutpractice in medical sector.
The proposal is pending since 2017 and we are following it up.@girishdmahajan please look into this !@amitsurg pic.twitter.com/jBA74JlPRo— Ichalkaranjikar V.S. (@ssvirendra) February 20, 2023
Necessary steps should be taken to enact a law against ‘Love Jihad’!
Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have enacted laws to prevent ‘love jihad’. While Maharashtra has announced a similar law which hasn’t been enacted yet. If this law is enacted then the government will be viewed as one that prioritises social wellbeing. Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar has also offered pro bono help to the government from the advocates of the Parishad in these processes.
