Arrival of Shankaracharya and Hindu-hatred of news channels !

Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati of Jagannath Puri’s ‘Govardhan Peetha’ arrived on 19th November in Maharashtra. Shankaracharya is taking mammoth ‘Dharma-sabha’ on 20th November in Navi Mumbai which is next to the capital city of Maharashtra. On 27th November, ‘Dharma-sabha’ will be held at Pune which is the cultural capital of the State. A press conference was held in this background, but the news channels turned their back to Shankarachgarya’s press conference. News channels, which report every small thing related to politicians, do not take note of Shankaracharya of one of the 4 ‘Pithas’ founded by Adya Shankaracharya. It exhibits their Hindu-hatred. Among them, however, Sahyadri’, a Government news channel showed news about Shankaracharya’s arrival surprising Hindus. Few years back, Pope had come to India from Vatican City and every newspaper had published news about the same to appease 2% Christian population of this country. That time, there were no TV channels; else they would have telecast special programs on Pope. Pope had made a statement about converting whole of Asian Continent into Christianity and it was opposed by pro-Hindu activists. It is said that most of the channels’ owners are Christians and foreigners; therefore, ignoring Shankaracharya’s arrival is not surprising. Few newspapers published about his arrival; but the so-called secular and said to be white-collared English newspapers did not take note of the same. It will be a matter of research that how many readers of these newspapers think themselves as Hindus. It can, therefore, be said that the said newspapers published news as per the liking of their readers. Hindu-haters are constantly defaming Hindu Saints. How can then news about Shankaracharya be published as that could awaken Hindus love towards their Dharma ? It is possible that due to such reason, the said news was ignored. Not a single channel has shown activities carried out by H. H. Asaram Bapu for past 40 years, like propagation of Dharma and protection of culture etc; but as a chain of accusations started against him, such news got lot of publicity. Also, parallel Courts were run by TV channels through holding discussion sessions. Shankaracharyas’ Peethas were founded for the main purpose of protection of Hindu Dharma. They are engaged in activities related to protection of Dharma; but like other Saints, they do not have huge number of followers. It is possible that due to which, these news channels did not think it necessary to take note of his arrival. It is not only wrong from the viewpoint of journalism but it is also exhibition of Hindu hatred.

Need for Hindus’ news channel !

Even in press conference, Shankaracharya boldly took media to task. Shankaracharya told journalists, “Whenever any incident occurs related to nation or Dharma, a question is asked, what Shankaracharya will do? Is it the duty of Shankaracharya or Dharmaguru to do something when some incident occurs ? What are you going to do ? Do not have a neutral role. You are also Hindu. Think that as a Hindu, what are you going to do? If media gives publicity to subjects in appropriate manner even for a month, the condition of this country will change.” If as per his appeal, media really work, there is no doubt that condition of Bharat and people will change; but will they do it ? Media work as business. Journalism is a profession to be undertaken for welfare of the country and people, as a vow; but today’s journalism and especially electronic media pay total disregard to the principles of journalism. Although outwardly, they try to show that they work for bringing improvement in this country, it lacks foundation of truth i.e. Dharma. Media behave as if they know everything like politicians. They may present programs on Dharma, God or Holy Scriptures, they never appeal to people to follow it nor do they themselves follow. They have imposed restriction on themselves to stay within the so-called frame of secularism. They fear that in case they go out of that frame, they may be branded as fanatics. The media is exactly behaving as per the knowledge acquired through ‘Macaulay’s education system and Nehru’s so-called modern India. It will not be enough for Hindus to boycott such media but it has become all the more necessary for Hindus to have their own news channel and they should make efforts towards the same.
