Belgaum (Karnataka) : All pro-Hindu organizations took out a march on 23rd November to protest against proposed anti-superstitions Act which the State Government of Karnataka is planning to pass during its Assembly session being held between 24th November and 5th December 2013. A representation on the subject was also submitted to the Government through the medium of District Collector. The organizations taking part in the protest march were Belgaum Taluka Warakari Mahasangh, Sriram Sena, Hindu Rashtra Sena, Sri Shivapratishthan Hindustan, Yoga Vedanta Seva Samiti, Kartavya Mahila Mandal, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha.
The march was started from Sri Ganesha Mandir in Rani Channamma Chowk at 10.30 a.m. after performing ‘aarti’ and ‘bhajan’. More than 100 Warakaris joined with their ‘Taal-mrudang (cymbals)’ etc. creating an atmosphere of divine energy. The march was taken out till District Collector’s office. In Channamma Chowk, all participants halted for 15-20 minutes stopping the traffic and showed severe opposition to the said Act.
Shri. Girish Kulkarni of HJS addressed participants from all pro-Hindu organizations when he said, “We welcome the Chief Minister’s statement that the proposed Act would not be put up during Belgaum Assembly session; but he should withdraw the Bill and close the matter; else State-wide and nation-wide agitations will be staged.”
Shri. F. A. Faizi, the Divisional Assistant of District Collector accepted the representation on behalf of Belgaum’s District Collector assuring to immediately forward the same to the Chief Minister.
