District Collector calls agitators for discussions, today is the meeting

Effect of the agitation staged under the leadership of Jain-Muni (Pujya) Vinamrasagarji Maharaj to oppose slaughter-house at Morba (Dist. Raigad) creating awareness amongst people, is felt in Raigad district. Lot of awareness is created through ‘prachar- meetings’, posters, hoardings and social media etc. against the slaughter-house. On the other hand, the District Collector has called a meeting on 17th January and everyone is eager to know its outcome.

Action committee against Morba slaughter-house held a press conference at Jain Temple on 15th January in this connection when (Pu.) Vinamrasagarji Maharaj said, “No permission was taken from the Government for construction of this slaughter-house using 70 acres of land. This construction is taking place on residential and agricultural land. 41 cases have been filed against cow-slaughter only on Raigad district. With such construction, the number will grow. The main purpose of this slaughter-house is to obtain foreign currency and to fill coffers of businessmen. Foreign currency of Rs. 40,000/ – crores estimated to be earned out of export of meat can be earned through some other means but if 4 crores undernourished children are to be saved, we have to protect cows and cattle.”

No proposal for slaughter-house was received by Zilha Parishad ! – Zilha Parishad Vice Chairman, Kalambe

Information about issue of ‘NOC’ to Morba slaughter-house by Zilha Parishad has been spread in wrong manner. Shri. Chandrakant Kalambe, the Vice Chairman of Zilha Parishad (ZP) stated that ZP would sue for libel those who spread such rumours about grant of permission to slaughter-house. NOC from Construction and Health Departments is necessary for building such slaughter-house; but no such proposal was received by ZP. Shri. Kalambe said that he had raised the topic during standing committee meeting to oppose. (Who is responsible for construction of such large scale slaughter-house without necessary permission ? Kalambe should explain the kind of punishment to be given to the concerned.
