HJS complaint against ‘Indian Express’, PCI to take action

Mumbai: In an article titled ‘the Unbearable Nakedness of Seeing’ was published in ‘Sunday Express’ dated 21st May 2006, which was unreasonably critical of HJS. HJS has therefore, filed a complaint with Press Council of India (PCI). PCI’s response is that the complaint is worth giving a hearing and date of hearing will be informed to HJS shortly.

‘Saffron Art Gallery’ held an exhibition of paintings by anti-Hindu painter M F Hussain. HJS opposed the holding of such an exhibition. Indian Express called HJS members as ‘rabble rousers’ and termed them as fundamentalists in their article. Dr. Durgesh Samant, the national spokesperson of HJS wrote a letter to the editor of ‘Sunday Express’ explaining standpoint of HJS, and sent two reminders thereafter. But the ‘Express’ group did not publish the letter. HJS then complained to PCI.
