On Tuesday, the Karnataka police issued notices to a group of youths who climbed onto freedom fighter Rani Abbakka’s statue in Mangaluru and waved religious flags. The incident occurred during the Eid-e-Milad an-Nabi procession on September 28, where the youths, holding green flags, climbed the statue at Veera Rani Abbakka Circle.

During the procession, hundreds of youths climbed on the statue, reportedly displaying disrespectful behavior. They not only obstructed the road but also caused a disturbance to the public by continuous honking. Given Mangaluru’s sensitive communal dynamics, the police swiftly acted and identified the youths hailing from Manjanadi, Madaka, Bantwal, Belthangady, Deralakatte, Konaje, and Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district.
