Mosques and Churches on Temple Land?

Rajapur: The State Government is trying to enact anti-Hindu ‘Black Magic’ Act and ‘Temple Take-over’ Act. A huge march was taken out to protest against this move of the State Govt. The aggrieved Hindus warned the Govt. not to dare take such steps. In the month of March, 1500 people participated at the taluka level.

It is likely that the two anti-Hindu Bills will be presented for enactment in the current session of the Legislative Assembly. These Bills would be a violation of religious freedom of Hindus. Therefore, to oppose these Bills, many Hindu organizations like HJS, trustees of various temples, Warkari Sampradaya, H. H. Kalavatiaai Sampradaya, Shree Sampradaya, Sanatan Sanstha, religious institutions, Hindu parties have come together for this agitation.

Shri. Babanrao Thakur, President of Sree Nateshwar temple in the taluka said that devotees donate to temples; but the greedy Government has an eye on the temple funds. Under the present Act in existence since 1951, temples are being efficiently managed by the Charity Commissioner.

Shri. Rajan Salvi, the ex-district chief of Shiv Sena said that although 90 % of the MLAs are Hindus, the Government is trying to pass such Bills. Hindus should take their elected representatives to task. Shri. Sanjay Joshi, District Spokesperson of HJS said that the Government has made a cruel mockery of Hindus feelings. If the Bill is passed, it will be an open field for the politicians to grab funds collected in temples. Donations offered by Hindus will be spent on welfare of Muslims and Christians. The Government can even construct mosques and churches in place of temples. If temples are taken over by the Govt., we will have to beg the Govt. for funds to celebrate our own festivals!
