Nashik (Maharashtra) : Tryambakeshwar is a pilgrimage place of Hindus and one of the twelve ‘Jyotirlingas’. A case is likely to be filed against the Temple Trust for taking money from devotees to have ‘darshan’. A letter has been sent by National Archaeology Department that it was illegal to charge money for having ‘darshan’ in temple.

  1. Tryambakashwar Trust has made arrangements for taking ‘darshan’ by directly going to sanctum sanctorum for Rs. 200.  (Such malpractices are happening in Hindu temples resulting in many Hindus drifting away from Dharma. It shows the grave need to impart knowledge of Dharma to Hindus ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
  2. As a result, the temple trust has collected Rs. 1.50 crores from the month of ‘Shravan’ in last year.
  3. Tryambakeshwar Temple is an ancient temple and archaeological site near Nashik and has been granted the status of national Protected Monument as per the law. As such, the responsibility of temple’s protection and maintenance is with National Archaeology Department.
  4. Archaeology Department wrote a letter to temple trust when it learnt about the issue.
  5. It has been stated in the letter that giving admission to VVIPs by taking money in a place of protected monument under Central Government is against ‘Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958’; therefore, it should be immediately stopped.
  6. Trust ignored this letter. Sambhajinagar office of Archaeology Department has taken a serious note of the same and it has been published on the website of ‘Maharashtra Times’ that it was planning to file case against the President of the Trust.
  7. A case can be filed when report is sent to Sambhajinagar from Nashik that taking money for ‘dasrhan’ has not been stopped.
  8. The President-ship of Tryambakeshwar Deva-sthan Trust is with District Judge, Nashik. (Such anarchy is going on through a Trust in which one Judge is a President; which underlines the pathetic condition of temples ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
  9. One of the Trustees, Lalita Shinde said that resolution of charging money for ‘darshan’ was passed in meeting by 7 votes against 2. She was against these things right from the beginning; but at least now, such things would be stopped. (Instead of opposing only in meeting, if devout Hindu like Lalita Shinde opposes such malpractices by creating awareness amongst people, unrighteous happenings like the above would be stopped. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
