Dapoli (Maharashtra) : Religious fanatics, secularists, and progressives are constantly targeting temples. The Waqf Act is being misused to usurp temples and temple lands. The property of Hindu temples is being looted under the guise of providing good management. After independence, more than four and a half lakh temples across the country were brought under government control; But not a single mosque or church has been taken over by the government. Hindus should be vigilant and united to protect the temple culture, asserted Mr Sunil Ghanwat, the state coordinator of Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh. He was addressing a meeting of temple trustees held at Shree Mahalakshmi Temple at Jalgaon-Brahmanwadi in the city on November 20. Sanatan’s Sadguru Satyawan Kadam also graced this meeting. Mr Paresh Gujarathi compered the meeting.
Sadguru Satyawan Kadam said that it is important for everyone to unite to protect temples. He also invited all to attend the Mandir Parishad to be held in Pune.
Mahalakshmi Devasthan Vice President Mr Suresh Rewale said that there should be a taluka level Adhiveshan of the temple trustees. This would facilitate the task of organising the temple trustees in the talukas.
A meeting of temple trustees was also held in Khed on November 20 in the Shree Paatharjaaidevi temple hall in the city. Mr Sunil Ghanwat also addressed this meeting.
