Shourya Prashikshan Shibir at Jakadevi (Ratnagiri) by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
Ratnagiri – In the past, women were treated with respect in our country. Today, as our country is moving towards being a superpower, women are becoming increasingly insecure. Therefore women should increase their inner strength by abiding by Dharma while also training for self-defense, asserted Mr Prakash Kondaskar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
He was speaking at a Shourya Prashikshan Shibir organised for girls of Jakadevi and surrounding areas in the taluka. 98 girls and women participated in this camp. Ms Suvarna Sakpal shared the aim of the camp while Ms Mithila Wadekar moderated the programme.
Mr Kondaskar further said, “When the torments of Asuras increased, Shri Durga Devi destroyed all the Asuras and celebrated Vijayadashami. We should remember the ideal of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi who risked her life for freedom. It is the need of time that women be empowered physically, mentally and spiritually. We should take advantage of the knowledge that our sages have made available to the entire human race through rigorous penance and practice in accordance with Indian culture.”
Ms Suvarna Sakpal said that if we want to create a society that looks at us with humility and not as a commodity, then we should change our conduct.
Ms Mithila Wadekar said that revolutionaries gifted us the freedom to live a comfortable life. So we must pledge to devote time for our motherland.
Feedback:
1. Former Sarpanch Mrs Madhavi Santosh Gotad: It is a good initiative and it has awakened a desire to learn self-defense.
2. Mrs Sanskruti Dhamane: Training was imparted very well.
3. Ms Shweta Joshi: Every young woman should be a Ranaragini. Don’t go anywhere without telling your parents, get trained in self-defense and be brave! Learn to recognise the manner in which the other person is looking at you.
4. Ms Gauri Gogate: It is a very commendable initiative. Everyone should benefit from this camp.
5. Ms Sneha Shende: Everyone should learn self-defense. Such classes should be started in every hamlet.
