‘Kalady to Kedar’ expedition to Adi Shankaracharya’s ‘samadhi’ place reaches Badrinath

Kedarnath : For restoration of Adi Shankaracharya’s ‘samadhi’ at Kedarnath, an expedition was started from Kalady in Kerala, the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya from 14th February 2014 carrying a ‘kalash’ filled with soil. The expedition reached Kedarnath with the ‘kalash’ on 11th June. Shri. Raval, the Chief of Badrinath Mandir gave a hearty welcome to this expedition.

1. In a program of ‘bhajans (devotional songs)’ held on this occasion, all Saints and Seers offered obeisance to Adi Shankaracharya with devotion and congratulated all members of the expedition.

2. During this expedition, holy soil from Pashupatinath Mandir, Nepal; Doleshwar Mahadev Kedar Mandir; besides soil from  Shankara Hill and Hari Parvat from Kashmir was also collected and mixed with the soil in the ‘kalash’.

3. On reaching Kedarnath, the soil so collected will be offered at the ‘Antardhyan’ place of Adi Shankaracharya on 16th June. Prayers will be offered and silence will be observed for souls of all those people who died in deluge.

4. Shri. Shripad Naik, Minister for the Central Culture and Tourism Department has extended his best wishes for the expedition.
