Ban cow slaughter in Karnataka: Chauhan

Shimoga (Karnataka) : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chauhan urged the Karnataka government to impose a ban on cow slaughter to save the Indian cow breed.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at the valedictory of 9-day World Cow Conference at Shree Ramachandrapur Mutt near Hosanagara in this district World Cow Conference here he said that his government in Madhya Pradesh has already imposed complete ban on Cow slaughter.

"The imposition on cow slaughter was inevitable to resist the impact of western culture on safeguard age-old Hindu culture," he said.

Mr Chauhan said that MP had established 453 cow shelters in the state and was protecting cows of Indian breed at the cost of the state’s exchequer. It had also established a separate Board for protection of the cows. He called upon the all the Chief Ministers of India to enact laws banning cow slaughter for conservation of indigenous cow breed.
