Bhavnagar (Gujarat) : Palitana is a place of pilgrimage and not a drop of blood should be shed here. Whole of Palitana should become free of violence; unauthorized slaughter-houses have to be closed down; not a single slaughter-house should be run here is the resolve of ‘Ahimsa Sangh’. The above guidance was given by Munishri Pujya Viragsagar Maharaj. (Congratulations to ‘Ahimsa Sangh’ for making such resolve to stop cow-slaughter ! Munishri Pujya Viragsagar Maharaj, who is taking active steps to protect cows, is today’s ray of hope for protection of Dharma ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) He expressed the above views while giving oath to thousands of youth for prevention of cow-slaughter and closing down of more than 250 slaughter houses in the area of Palitana which is a place of pilgrimage of Jain community. The other dignitaries participating in the program were ‘Gachhadhipati’ Daulatsagar Sureeshwarji Maharaj, Hemprabha Sureeshwarji, Nadivardhan Sagar Sureeshwar, Vari Sen Sureeshwar, Ashok Sagar Sureeshwar and many ‘Sadhu- Sadhvis’. The program was attended by more than 500 ‘Sadhu-Sadhvi’, students of Gurukul and large number of activists.

Pu. Viragsagar Maharaj further said…

1. Palitana is a place of pilgrimage of ‘Helakho’ Jain community and is ‘Ahimsanagari’. Many Sadhus- Sadhvis and devotees come here. It is very shameful that at such place, more than 250 slaughter-houses are run.

2. All these things are illegal. Many animals are killed here and we do not at all agree with this. There are more than 25000 trucks which sell eggs. We have staged agitation on number of occasions and in the month of February, we were given assurance.

3. The Administration is not taking action due to pressurizing tactics used by butchers. We, therefore, started hunger strike and ‘donation of self-flesh’ agitation. Then the Administration called us for discussions; but we will not sit quietly till slaughter-houses are closed down. Hundreds of youth members have, therefore, taken oath for this cause.
