Bangladesh : BDMW Rescues Minor Hindu Girl from Jihadi clutches

Ajit Chandra Biswas (54) of Narayanganj, Bangladesh lodged a First Information Report (FIR) in Bandar Police Station requesting rescue of his daughter, a class 8 student aged 14 years on 13 June 2014. The complaint was against a Jihadi fanatic named Parvej (20) son of Kabir Hossain. The police had failed to recover the victim till the investigation was complete.

Adv. Rabindra Ghosh along with Mr. Manik Chandra of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) visited the spot on 14 July 2014, talked to the victim’s legal guardians, who requested us to trace out the victim. Accordingly, BDMW engaged some advocates on behalf of the victim and they advocated for handing over the girl victim in the custody of the parents. BDMW requested the law enforcing agency to recover the girl victim .

Bipul Kumar, Sub Inspector of Police, Bandar Police Station rescued the victim on 26/07/2014 from the house of the jihadi, Parvej. The Victim voluntarily expressed her desire before the court (chief Judicial Magistrate) Narayanganj, to return to her parents. Accordingly the chief Judicial Magistrate was kind enough to handover the victim to her father and mother.

BDMW is very much happy about the victim's rescue and that she was saved from forcible conversion. Victim's parents also expressed their gratitude to BDMW for promptly rescuing their child from the clutches of the Jihadis.

BDMW is happy with the local Police authority and the chief Judicial Magistrate for their co-operation in the girl's recovery.
