After shooter, now table tennis player alleges ‘Love Jihad’

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) : In yet another case of alleged Love Jihad, a Muslim youth allegedly forced a 14-year-old Table Tennis player to convert to Islam in Kanpur.

The case that came to light on Sunday, the family members of the victim have alleged that Wasim, a resident of Kanpur who belonged to a minority community lured the minor girl into a relationship and later married her to convert her to Islam.

According to a police complaint filed by the girl's family members, the girl had gone missing on Aug 16. Following which, the girl's relatives reported the matter to police.

On Aug 26, police found the girl. According to police, Wasim eloped with her on August 16. He lured the girl on pretext of marriage.

During the interrogation, the girl told police that Wasim and his family members forcibly married her to him.

A case of rape and abduction and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered by the police.

In a similar case reported from Ranchi, a national level shooter Tara Shahdeo had accused her husband Ranjeet aka Rakibul Hussain of forcing her to convert to Islam.

A case of deceit, exploitation and torture was lodged against the accused.

In her FIR, Tara had alleged that she came to know about her husband’s faith only after marriage. She also alleged that her husband assaulted her when she refused to convert.
